This is the actual title of an article from a very recent edition of the prestigious medical journal Archives of Internal medicine.
This study reviewed the findings from a European prospective study into the prevention of chronic disease. There were over 23,000 participants in this study. The authors looked at the four major chronic diseases of modern society. These included type II diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and cancer.
They then looked at four lifestyle factors which included: never smoking, having a body mass index less than 30, exercising 3.5 hours per week or more, and adhering to healthy dietary principles. Their definition of healthy dietary principles was a high intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grain bread and specifically low meat consumption.
The Vitamin D Revolution is Coming

I am very complimented that so many of my patients have asked what happened to my newsletter? I have been very busy!
I’m happy to announce to all my patients and friends than on February 23, 2009 my first book, the vitamin D revolution will be released on my publisher Hay House’s website, as well as on Amazon.com. This book has been a labor of love for the last approximately eight months. I am very happy and proud with how the book turned out, and hope that it will help many people.
In all my many years of practice of medicine, I’ve never seen one vitamin, even vitamin C, have such profound effects on human health. As most of you who are my patients know I’ve been normalizing and optimizing my patient’s vitamin D levels for the last approximate five years. 90% of the new patients that I see are significantly deficient in vitamin D even in Southern California! This brought me to the moral and spiritual imperative to share this information with the entire world. It is estimated that there are over one billion people deficient in vitamin D worldwide.
There are two additional aspects to my "vitamin D project".
CT Angigram better than Blood Tests to find Heart Disease

Many of my patients know of my passion for finding and preventing disease at a very early stage. For this reason many of my patients have spent the money, (approximately $1000) to get a CT Angiogram of their heart. In the last two years since I’ve been ordering this test, I have saved approximately 11 of my patient’s lives. By this, I mean that we found more plaque on their heart than we had ever expected. Procedures, either angioplasty, or in two cases coronary artery bypass surgery fixed the patient’s problem.
Similarly, I have treated patients with high cholesterol who were on statin drugs, who had absolutely no plaque on their angiogram! We were able to take these people are statin drugs. In this day, when the pharmaceutical companies who make statin drugs are implying that everybody should start on statin drugs from age 20 on, this has been a major accomplishment.
I am delighted to tell my patients and friends about a new article that appeared in the January issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology. The title of this article is "Traditional risk assessment tools do not accurately predict coronary heart disease". In this study over 700 patients were taking Statin drugs because of the increased risk of developing coronary artery disease from the traditional Framingham and NCEP risk assessment tools that doctors use.
Cancer and Biological Terrain

Integrative medical doctors for many decades have said that the terrain of the body is a contributing factor to the development and spread of cancer. Specifically, in this approach the three factors that determine this "terrain" are acid-base balance, antioxidant status, and resistivity, which is a measurement of the ability of the body’s electricity to flow through a given area. My cancer patients know that I talk with them about their pH (acid-alkaline) balance as well as their antioxidant status.
A new study from Stanford University School of Medicine has been published which supports this "terrain" idea.
